Chapelle de la Mission Haut Brion Pessac-Leognan 2011
Winemaker's Notes:
"The second wine is also a *great success*, revealing much of the character of its bigger brother, although not the weight or richness. The open-knit, *plush, opulent, fresh, lively* 2011 La Chapelle de la Mission is ideal for drinking in its first 10-15 years of life.I can't say enough good things about the job Jean-Philippe Delmas has done after taking over for his well-known father at La Mission-Haut-Brion and Haut-Brion. As long-time readers know, I am an addict for both of these wines."*Robert Parker rating: (90-92 pts.)**We will notify you on arrival summer 2014.*

External Reviews for Chapelle de la Mission Haut Brion Pessac-Leognan

The La Mission is a blend of 33.7% Merlot 11.3% Cabernet Franc and 55% Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose takes time to coalesce: very classic with ripe blackberry and briary fruit fine minerality a hint of black olive and crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with tensile tannins. This is an edgy La Mission with crisp acidity a silver citric thread dark broody brambly fruit and an almost angular but very fresh focused finish. I like the classicism of the 2011. Excellent. Neal Martins Wine Journal.

33.7% merlot 11.3% cabernet franc and 55% cabernet sauvignon. The vineyards of this famous neighbor of Haut-Brion are planted on gravel over chalk with an average vine-age of 20 years. Wine is aged in 100% new oak. The color is an inky purple red. This medium-weight effort has delicate and refreshing blue fruits and a soft texture along with ample minerality clay and wood smoke flavors and fine tannins. Pleasant finish but lacks stuffing at this age. A solid if backwards young La Mission. Enjoy 2016-2028. Cory Gowan.

The saturated ruby/purple-hued 2011 Haut-Bailly exhibits a glorious, subtle, noble set of aromatics consisting of red and black currants, sweet cherries, graphite, truffles and a faint hint of wood spice. The wine hits the palate with the profound elegance and purity that have become so much a characteristic under Wilmers and Sanders. Still youthful, with good acidity and freshness, this brilliant, medium-bodied 2011 needs another 4–5 years of bottle age, and should evolve effortlessly for 20–25 years.

Shows a grippy feel, with lots of briar, pastis and plum sauce notes rolled together and driving through the sappy finish. Well-embedded acidity pushes everything along, while a pure echo of fruit hangs through the finish. Should blossom with cellaring. Best from 2016 through 2028.

Attractive spicy nose with coffee and chocolate. Some juniper and black pepper. Blueberries and dark cherries. Vibrant and smooth on the palate with good fruit and fine soft tannins. Smooth, long finish. Second wine of Haut-Bailly. Drink after 2015. James Suckling. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2010 Le Parde de Haut Bailly 750ml

Shows good structure, with a graphite edge running from start to finish. This is accessible now, featuring pure cassis, boysenberry and blackberry fruit, displaying lovely flickers of spice and ember on the finish. Drink now through 2022. -JM Wine Spectator.
