Chateau Barde-Haut Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Advocate Review Rated 93 A tasty, opulent 2005 from proprietress Helene Garcin, this sexy wine exhibits a dense ruby/purple color followed by a sweet bouquet of licorice, black cherries, blackberries, oak, and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, opulent, fleshy, and disarming, it will drink well in 2-3 years, and should age for 12-15. By the way, I have recently begun sampling my 1998 Barde-Haut, which is just emerging from its adolescent stage. It, too, is a beauty!

This wine is ready-to-roll - although there could be another decade in this bottle if kept at 15 Celsius or so; the nose is kirsch-like, with a layer of Cypress branch and blueberry jam. Lots of vanilla, cherry and soft oak on the palate - but well integrated and harmonious. Finish has a slight tannic pucker and is very long. An excellent wine. 91.

From a well-situated, 43-acre vineyard next to the fabulous Troplong-Mondot, the beautiful 2005 Barde-Haut, under the leadership of Helene Garcin, offers abundant amounts of sweet berry fruit intermix... Robert Parker. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2005 Barde-Haut 750ml
