Chateau Fleur Cardinale Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

The wines display a deep, dense-coloured hue, while on the nose there are powerful ripe fruit aromas mingling with floral notes. Feminine in style, the wines have a seductive, rich mouth-feel, underpinned by elegant, silky tannins. The finish is long and harmonious, promising very long ageing potential in bottle.

Château Fleur Cardinale:
This estate was bought by Florence and Dominique Decoster in 2001 and after investing a great deal of time, effort and money it was promoted to Grand Cru Classse status in the contentious 2006 classification of Saint Emilion and confirmed in 2012 There are two other Saint Emilions made from separate plots; the Croix Cardinale and the Secret de Cardinale plus a second wine made from the younger vines the Bois Cardinale

Savory earth, mushroom and notes of Tamari and baking spice - notes of ageing well, with soft cherry and raspberry fruit. Beautiful fruit here with elegant and silky mouthfeel, waves of cherry and raspberry coming first with some juicy acidity coming through on the mid palate, blueberry and plum fruit rising up towards the finish where the earth takes hold, with spice, earth and a touch of leather meet. 93 pts
