this could bring enough depth of tan taste and enough roundness. Not so bad.

Full, aromatic nose of cassis, blackberry & rose petal. Initially cassis on the palate, then I got hit by a sour cherry freight train that is really almost a bit over the top. Continuing on just a sour finish. This may be a bit past its prime, or may need some time to open up a bit. I'll post again if it improves over the next day or two. Having been open a few days now, the wine has changed somewhat. Plum, cassis, & pizza sausage on the nose, maybe a bit of plastic too. Much less interesting flavors, although the acidity is down quite a bit. Sour cherry & plastic, still a sour finish. Still an 80, although that's probably generous.

Long famous for the quality of its wines, Château Fonréaud is a prestigious Cru Bourgeois Supérieur located in the commune of Listrac-Medoc. The vineyard is in a marvelous location on the highest elevation in the Medoc. The perfect combination of grape varieties grown on a diversity of soils expresses itself with style and distinction in the wine. Château Fonréaud is round, full-bodied and smooth, with very ripe tannin. It spreads out deliciously on the palate and has an excellent structure. The vat room has numerous small temperature-controlled vats which make it possible to fine-tune winemaking in order to bring out the nuances of each vineyard plot. The wine is barrel-aged before being bottled at the château. The elegance and charm of this great wine reflect the spirit of the Chanfreau family.

According to legend this name comes from 'Royal Fountain' where the King quenched his thirst. Today this Chateau is owned by the family Chanfreau producing supple fruity and round red wines with a high proportion of Merlot these reds are delicious and ready for drinking now. 17/20 GaultMillau 85-88Wine Spectator *** Decanter.
