Château Haut-Surget Red Bordeaux Blend Lalande de Pomerol 2010

Member Review by kevsipe:

11/7/2012 - MIKEAUKENBALS WROTE: 91 Points great QPR. not sure i'd buy any to cellar, but good pop and pour especially for friends who aren't into more eccentric, unique wines. could pass for a $50 bordeaux. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comment Options 10/12/2012 - TASHNYC WROTE: 85 Points Toasty oak & some fruit, but not too exciting to me. Although maybe it would have been better if I had tasted it out of a glass: it was served in a plastic cup at a wine store for tasting. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comment Options 9/5/2012 - ASTROMAN WROTE: 87 Points Deep dark ruby. Pretty concentrated but lacking in mid palate and no finish. Pretty decent for the price. If this is the indication of 2009 then i cannot wait to try to classified cru... Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comment Options 9/2/2012 - UCBEAU WROTE: 89 Points Opened about an hour prior to tasting. Interesting nose of black soil, currant, spices, and green pepper. The bouquet is a bit disjointed still, perhaps indicating several more years of cellaring are needed. It's got a lot of tannin up front and a slightly hollow mid-palate, but the finish rushes back into play with gorgeous flavors of cedar, tobacco, coffee, black currant, and dusty soil. Impressive complexity for such an inexpensive Bordeaux. Wish I'd purchased more from Garagiste, I could see this becoming a 90+ point wine in a few years.

One of the best 06's Bordeauxs in this tax bracket that I've tried thus far. Nose of Dark fruits, earth, and taste of classic cherries, violets, smoke, a fair amount of oak, and cocoa. Medium body with finesse, with good acidity and solid tannins. Nice. I've had every vintage of this wine since 1998. It remains fairly consistent, and a decent value.

Just delicious, but could stand a little more bottle aging. I'd like to try it again in 5 years. if i drank it again tomorrow, i might decant.

Fairly good nose of merlot - very spicy. Some good cabernet structure - leather and tobacco flavors as well. A bit green - bellpeppers - either too young or too hot that year (it was 2003). A bit vegetal. Decent length on finish
