Château de Monbazillac is a botrytised, sweet dessert wine that is produced from a collective of regional growers. It was founded in 1940 and accounts for nearly a third of all the wines produced within the Monbazillac appellation. Since 1960, the winery has been located in a Medieval château that also functions as a guest house, overlooking the picturesque Dordogne valley. As with neighboring Sauternes, the wines are produced from a blend of late harvest, “noble rot” (Botrytis) Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc.  Read less
