Chateau Picard Cru Bourgeois Saint Estephe 37.5 2003

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought two 750ml bottles of this wine for £24 from the website www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/132741.Saint Estephe is a Bordeax appellation that was created in 1936 [although viticulture in the area goes back centuries] for red wines only from the single commune around the village of that name inthe north of the Medoc peninsular. My bottle comes from a small property and consists of 85% cabernet sauvignon and 15% merlot.and spent time in oak barrels.I started the first bottle last night with my supper of roast chicken. It is a full bodied and well structured wine with some blackcurrant blackberry and bramble style fruit with a hint of coffee or smoke and some soft tannins. In short this is a lovely smooth wine that went well with the chicken

There is also a Bordeaux Superieur under the Chateau Picard name but that is made by Vignobles Pierre de Hontas QVS at Saint Martin Lacaussade near Blaye on the right bank Read less
