Club Montania' Vin de Savoie Mondeuse 2012

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine from a shop in London's Kensington [www.nicolas.co.uk ] for £10.The Savoie AOC covers a very large area south of Lake Geneva close to the Swiss border including four whole departments producing mainly white wines but also some reds.. My bottle was made by Guy Laurent at Vignoble les Moulins for the Routin group. Routin [www.1883.com ] are a soft drinks, beer and syrup manufacturer and distributor founded by a Philibert Routin, the creator of Chambery vermouth, in 1883 and 'Montania ' is a trademark they use.The mondeuse grape is native to Savoy although some beleive it is related to syrah. I started my bottle last night with my sausage supper and I did enjoy it.There is plenty of a plum and blackcurrant style fruit there and the tannins are very soft and give little structure. It does not have a lot of depth or body.but it was an OK wine that went well with the sausages
