Colgin Cabernet Sauvignon Herb Lamb Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Wine 2004

External Review by JJ Buckley Fine Wines:

Ruby-red. Highly aromatic nose offers black raspberry black cherry minerals and gravel. Dense lush and sweet with spicy black raspberry dark chocolate violet and licorice flavors complemented by oak. This is wonderfully rich (15.5% alcohol) but retains plenty of energy. Finishes very long with firm but ripe tannins. Impressive. Stephen Tanzers IWC.

The Colgin winery, completed in 2002, is located at the northern end of IX Estate in the Pritchard Hill area of St. Helena, California. The state-of-the-art winery provides an inspiring view of Lake Hennessey. A collaboration between Tom Faherty, architect from Valley Architects of St. Helena, Hendrix Allardyce Interior Design of Los Angeles, Mark Aubert and the owners, the winery features classical design coupled with contemporary technology. The design emphasizes gentle handling of the fruit from the extensive sorting system to the gravity fed movement into the fermentation tanks. The winery is not open to the public but we wanted to share with you these images of the facility. Read less

Full-bodied opulent and dense with considerable tannin lurking underneath all the extract and structure it needs 2-3 years of cellaring and should age nicely for 20-25 yea
