Concha Y Toro Marques de Casa Concha Chardonnay 2016

Member Review by zufrieden:

Here is a modest - but always pleasing - Marques Casa Concha Chardonnay (Limari Valley - a well-known growing area for whites in Chile). With a bouquet of spicy apple and light oak, this three year old wine is turning a light golden colour, having been aged in French Oak and allowed to sit for a year extra. The entry is quite spicy - with oak and vanilla fighting it out with the pear and apple fruit flavours. Could use a slightly less aggressive oak treatment, but this is not a heavy-handed misuse of wood. Finish is pleasant, and you won't say no to a second glass. 89

Slight fruit reminiscent of red licorice but somewhat flat nose. Pleasing tannins and oaky finish albeit a little short.

Shows good concentration to the ripe red fruit flavors, with notes of iron and graphite, lingering on the tannic finish. Drink now.

Powerful in its scale and ambition, this syrah shows the influence of the Andes in its rich in herbal notes and ripe red fruit. An opulent wine for a steak.

Dense, rich and full of dark fruit and spice flavors, supported by muscular tannins and acidity. The dried blackberry, black fig and smoke-infused cocoa powder notes feature some accents of dried meat. Best from 2015 through 2022. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 77,220 cases made. -KM Pencil eraser, blueberry, olive and peppery notes are what you draw off the bouquet of this ripe yet basic Cab. In the mouth, this feels rubbery and tannic. Flavors of ultraripe black fruits taste sweet and come with licorice and espresso bitterness on the finish, which is mossy, heavy and choppy. Color: Dark ruby red.Bouquet: Luscious aromas of cherry and blackberries intertwine with cedar and smoke.Taste: Concentrated flavors are revealed in firm tannins with a soft, silky texture and a lingering finish. - Winery

...has a Burgundian bouquet of mineral, slate, baked apple, poached pear, and smoky oak. It has a viscous texture, layered, ripe fruit, and excellent length. It delivers more than most Chardonnays at 2-3 times the price.

Deep ruby. Ripe cherry and dark berries on the spice-accented nose. Sappy and precise, displaying good lift and cut to its bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors. The spiciness comes back on the finish, which shows good energy and subtle tannic grip. Buin is a subzone of the Maipo Valley.
