Coral Mustang Tempranillo Paso Robles Rosé Vista Creek 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

I love Rose'! This wine has cherry, strawberry and lime aromas that are carried into the mouth. The lees stirring gives the finish a creamy roundness that extends the expereince of this wine. I drink this with just about anything. In the winter months this is perfect with soups and shellfish. In the summer it is the wine to have on the deck with a good book, spanish soft cheeses and fruit.

The aromas are floral with sweet raspberry undertones, baked clay, a hint of sweetness up front then a rich mp with nicely framed raspberry and oily herb tones, a touch of tannin even then a bit of bay leaf and mineral on the back end, rich, fresh and a lot of fun 90pts

This smells a touch sweet at first then very fruity and very Tempranillo-like with a nice sandy, dusty soil tone and a broad array of herbal, tobacco and floral background aromatics. There is a touch of VA here and it is a bit dirty, but in a good way making this penetrating and complex. A little sweet on entry but nice acidity and well judged tannins quickly bring this into focus with bright fruit that features red raspberry fruit enlivened by dry, dusty earth tones, and spicy orange ring/herbal notes and even a touch of green chili lurking This is very fresh and fruity yet a slight astringency offers cut but is not enough to become bitter. The nice cleansing finish shows a touch of vanilla and floral perfumes that recall dried roses. A very solid offering. 91pts

Nice rich red, light enough to be rose, but pure in color. Watermelon nose, really pure, and light, if not delicate. Like a watermelon jolly rancher in someways this wine is candy like and well constructed. Zesty acidity leaves the mouth crisply and overall a great treat. Have this with some butter roasted chicken to really fall in love with it.

Dark rose in color, made with 100% Tempranillo. Beautifully balanced rose with a dry finish, but a round and flavorful mid-palate. Aromas of rose petals, raspberry, and strawberry lead into a berry palate.

Inky dark again on this vintage, deep at the core, with a nose that is restrained and more charcoally, Lush in the mouth with a softness that hides deep tannins and a medium acidity. Pencil lead notes and minerals remind me of Bordeaux with a tightness that needs a couple of hours to give up it's secrets.

Deep black fruit aromas with a hint of sweetness, and a bit of heat but not unpleasant. Rustic oak and blackberry flavors, soft tannins, smooth and pleasant, with a hint of eucalyptus on the finish. Good value!

Pale but nice red, with a nose that is sour not in a bad way but rather a cranberry way! A bit of light cream comes in for an austere nose that once in the mouth screams TCA :-(

Fruity nose of bananas and cake. Nice acidity keeps the cherry, and strawberries in check. Quite nice.

Inky deep red color to this wine with glints of blackish night. The nose is intense with some charcoal, wood and deep fruit notes, yet it seems to retain a nice crisp freshness with blueberry and blackberry qualities. Full in the mouth this is a serious wine with some heavey rich tannins that are in need of air. Huge copius amounts of dark fruit, rich spice and tartness from an acidity that plays the balancer well. I will say the alcohol is a bit too much on the finish, though I do want to taste this again in 5yrs or so.

This wine has bright fruit flavors and aromas of blackberry and blueberry. light smoke and vanilla take a light hand to round out the fruit producing a wine that is not only fun to drink, but very food friendly. The finish lingers on the tongue with blueberry and caramel balanced with good acid making it a versatile wine with food- something that I like to see in wine.
