Coteaux du Layon Vignoble Galineau 2007

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought three bottles of this wine from the website www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/90560 for £15. Coteaux du Layon is an appellation created in 1950 for sweet white wines made of the chenin blanc grape [ called pineau de Loire in this area ] from 27 communes to the south of the town of Angers along the river Layon,a tributary of the Loire. There are three more prestigious sub-appellations, Coteaux du Layon Chaume, Quarts de Chaume, and Bonnezeaux. Chateau de la Viaudiere is a small concern in this area run by the Galineau family.Last night I went out to the local curry house and got myself a takeaway.I normally drink beer with curry as it is so spicy but on this occasion I started a bottle of this Coteaux du Layon and I did enjoy it.It is certainly a sweet wine [after all,it is really a desert wine ] and there is plenty of a pineapple and apricot style fruit as well as a hint of grapefruit. It is a refreshing wine and it worked well with the spicy food.It was also very good value for money.
