People, the information at the left is incorrect - this is from Piedmont, Italy - not the Languedoc, France.

This tradition was kept up by Giacomo Damilano, the founder's son-in-low, together with his children until it passed on to his four grandchildren, who very attentively manage their forefather's land today. The wines produced are renowned for their upright style and the estate is widely appreciated thanks to the strictness and passion that accompany all of the company's activities. Read less

The 2010 Barbera d’Asti emerges from the glass with dark berries, leather, licorice and scorched earth. It shows good length and character, but not quite the personality of the very finest years. Anticipated maturity: 2011–2014.

Vegetal and earthy aroma follow through to a black cherry flavor emerging in the mouth. Seems unsettled now, with a slightly bitter finish. This is concentrated, so give it a few months to sort itself out. Best after 2013.

Damilanorsquo;s 2009 Barbera drsquo;Asti is a big, powerful wine loaded with dark fruit, minerals and spices, showing terrific balance in a full-bodied, rewarding style. This is the second release from a recently acquired parcel in Asti, where Barbera is capable of reaching greater heights than just about anywhere else. Anticipated maturity: 2011ndash;2014.

The 2008 Barbera d'Asti is another big, racy wine packed with fruit. A persistent vein of minerality supports the long, elegant finish. This is a terrific new wine from Damilano made from a recently-acquired vineyard in Asti. The Barbera d'Asti replaces the Barbera d'Alba, which was made from rented vineyards, and which will no longer be produced. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2013.

Blueberry and strawberry on the nose, with flowers and citrus. Medium-bodied, showing tar and lemon peel notes, with dark cherry hints. Drink now.

Bright red-ruby. Raspberry, licorice and mocha on the nose, lifted by a floral topnote. Lush, sweet and fruity; in fact quite pliant and creamy for 2008 but with harmonious bright acidity keeping the wine fresh. With air, this showed an impressively penetrating quality to its red fruits but without any hardness. Finishes clean and persistent.
