Domaine de la Charbonnière Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes 1994

External Review:

The dark ruby/purple-tinged 1994 Cuvee Vieilles Vignes offers up a broad, sweet bouquet of smoked meats, roasted herbs, and gobs of rich black-cherry and raspberry fruit. Expansive and attractively textured, this deep, full-bodied, powerful wine needs 2-3 years of cellaring; it can be drunk over the following decade and a half. It is an impressively rich wine made from vines averaging 60 years in age. Last tasted 8/96.
