Domaine de la Guilloterie Saumur Champigny les Loges 2015

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine for £12.50 from a stand at the London France Show back in January. Saumur Champigny is an appellation created in 1957,although there has been viticulture here for centuries, for red wines made mostly of the cabernet franc grape from 8 communes south-east of the town of Saumur. My bottle comes from a family producer in this area.50 year old vines were used and the wine was aged, not in oak but stainless steel vats I started it last night with my supper of chickern stew. There is some fresh cherry, blackcurrant and plum style fruit but very little in the way of body, tannins or structure. I have had far better from this appellation. In short this is very much a lightweight wine but it went well with the stew
