Edna Valley Vineyard Chardonnay 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2015 vintage was a tale of three great Central Coast regions for our Chardonnay. We began in Monterey County for the bright flavors of apple and apricot with a zippy acidity. Grapes from our home in San Luis Obispo County provided ripe, tropical flavors and a full body. And our first-picked fruit from Santa Barbara County was barrel fermented and aged for greater complexity and added tropical flavors and pizazz. Together, the fruit from these regions provides a wine that is in perfect harmony.

Its location in one of the state's few east/west-oriented valleys allows nighttime coastal fog to move inland, cooling the grapes after a long day in the sunlight, so that they slowly mature while retaining sufficient acidity. The vineyard's unique site consists of layers of clay and volcanic rock over ancient ocean subsoil. We are a partnership between Paragon Vineyard Company, which is owned by the Niven family, and Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines. The Niven's planted Paragon, our estate vineyard, in the early 1970s and the Chalone Wine Group joined with the family to establish a partnership as Edna Valley Vineyard in 1980.Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines purchased the Chalone Wine Group in 2005. Tart lemon, melon and green apple on the nose. Juicy, creamy and medium-full bodied in the mouth, a bit of an earthy-herbal-oaky note that comes across a little brutish and mostly overpowers the fruit notes of peach, lemon and apple.

I bought this bottle of wine from a shop in London's Belgravia [www.majestic.com]. for £10.It is from the State of California on the west coast of the USA.and made of the chardonnay grape.I started it last night with my supper of tuna salad. It is a dry wine and there is plenty of a melon.peach and apricot fruit with some citrus on the finish. It is certainly not bland
