Galil Mountain Winery Syrah Yiron Kosher 2005

Member Review by girjums:

I am not a typical Syrah drinker. I am more partial to a full bodied red, like a Cab or Cab blend, but this Syrah is truly excellent. Young and full of flavor. There is a great leather texture that mixes a soft tannin structure with a fantastic fruit burst. The fruit eventually overtakes your palate as the wine makes room for the spicy finish. This finish doesn't linger too long, which is a shame, because the flavor is terrific. Drinks best with a white meat, like chicken. Saluti.

The topographical structure, quality of the soil and climate, make the mountains of the Galilee an ideal location for growing vineyards with grapes of the highest quality. Golan Heights Winery had long been aware of the region's premium qualities and consequently began planting vineyards in the Kadesh Valley as early as 1995 jointly with Kibbutz Malkiya and Kibbutz Yiftach. In 1997, the first vineyard was planted in Kibbutz Yiron and at the same time the kibbutz decided to establish a winery amidst the natural landscape surrounding it. Read less

Ripe aromas of blackberry, purple plum, mulberry and blueberry jam, with hints of cocoa, clove and mint; complex, full bodied and well balanced, with a velvety texture; long, concentrated finish.
