Ghost Pines Winemaker's Blend Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Sourcing from both the Napa and Sonoma appellations allows our winemaker to blend a wine which accentuates the best of what each region has to offer. Napa County Cabernet provides lush, jammy, ripe fruit to the blend in a very free‐spirited yet elegant manner. The Sonoma County Cabernet adds fresh red and black fruits along with a strong, disciplined structural foundation. The result is our 2007 Ghost Pines Cabernet Sauvignon, which displays aromas of dark fruit jam, sweet nuts, and black pepper that combine with dark berry fruit flavors. The palate is dense and chewy without being overly astringent.

A high-toned cabernet, this is red-fruited and herbal with a sharp black cut of acidity. Soften it with flank steak.

The Ghost Pines Cabernet has been a consistent favorite for years, but the 2007 vintage has surpassed our already high expectations. Incredibly dense and rich, the deep black fruit, heady spices and toasted oak notes blend seamlessly. While the firm tannins and well-structured mouthfeel suggest that this wine is capable of aging for several years, the hedonistic lushness allows it to be enjoyed now as well.

Another superb value is the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon. A leafy, autumnal vegetal character provides a subtle complexity to the intense black currant fruit. This full-bodied, dense, nicely textured, silky Cabernet Sauvignon should drink well for 5-7 years. These are all super bargains!
