Greg's Wine Preferences I was first introduced to wine and the appreciation of a good bottle of wine back in the 70s when I started playing professional golf in Europe. I would frequently enjoy a bottle of wine with dinner and since I was playing a great deal of golf in France at the time, we favored French wine. While in Australia, I did try many Aussie wines, but they were not nearly as popular as they are today. I drank Californian wine very infrequently, as I was not a regular in the States. Now, however, it seems all I drink are varietals from Australia or California, as I tend to enjoy their qualities better than wines from other countries. One of my favorite wines is the Australian Reserve Shiraz. It has such a deep, intense flavor, filled with tannins that are pronounced but not overbearing, and a hint of blueberry. Zinfandel is also a personal favorite, and the new Lake County Zinfandel has the spicy, red fruit character style that I particularly enjoy. Only after many years of experimenting with wines from all over the world have I come to understand the characteristics that I most enjoy. In my Chardonnays, I prefer a less dry, less heavy wine with more oak flavor to it. I find that most California and Australian Chardonnays possess this quality. For this reason, I wanted the style of my new Santa Barbara County Chardonnay to be alive with fruit flavors and pair well with many foods. Many people assume that I prefer Australian wine above all others, because that is where Greg Norman Estates originated, but it isn't true. For me it depends on the situation, menu choice and mood. I am more of a casual wine drinker, rather than an intense wine connoisseur, and therefore I drink whatever wine I have a desire for at that moment. Read less

This wine starts with intense fruit flavors of blackberry and blueberry before a lively yet earthy finish lingers on your palate. While the full body boasts balanced tannins and acidity, spiced chocolate swirls around the light oak aromas that add to this wine's smooth complexity. This powerful shiraz pairs especially well with grilled filet and shrimp.

Excellent Shiraz for the price. Lovely color on presentation. Blueberry and plum flavors accent the wine along with a soft smoky flavour.

Greg Norman Estate Shiraz Cabernet 2008 wine is dark vibrant crimson color with purple hues. Dense dark fruit aromas of dark plum, ripe blackberry and cherry become more complex, elegant and savory, with olive, cassis and leather that intensify the nose. Sweet vanillin and mocha oak characters underpin the wine. The strong, fruit driven palate is supported by cedar and vanillin oak characters and fine silky tannins. These add to the wine's complexity and ensure lingering, ripe fruit flavors on the finish.

This Shiraz's black-pepper accent is its best feature; on the nose, it's joined by meaty notes. On the palate, it's taken over by a smooth, woody overlay and sour plums.

The 2007 Greg Norman Estates Limestone Coast Shiraz is a vibrant dark crimson color. Perfumed dark plum, cherry and blueberry aromas are balanced with light cedar and vanillin oak nuances, and a touch of spice. It has a rounded, soft, silky textured palate with slightly savory tannins and good length. It finishes with rich dark berry fruit and delicate spearmint and herbs. A beautifully textured, generous Australian Shiraz with rich berry fruit, a firm but rounded structure and pleasant persistence of flavors on the finish.

Professional golfer Greg Norman hits a long drive with this 2003 from the Limestone Coast region, which includes Padthaway and Coonawarra. Winemaker Andrew Hales aged it in a combination of American and French oak, creating a ripe Syrah that has intense plum and peppery flavors.

A strong leafy character runs through the currant and spice aromas and flavors of this lively, open-textured Shiraz. Not for everyone, but itrsquo;s distinctive. Drink now through 2010.

Polished, ripe and jazzy in style, with lively acidity against surprisingly intense peppery plum, currant and blueberry fruit, persisting impressively through the long, supple finish. Drink now through 2013.

Supple and generous, with nicely focused plum and pretty spice character, juicy acidity but not so much that it feels tart. Itrsquo;s just a welcoming balance that wants food to complete the picture. Drink now through 2008.
