Helfrich Gewürztraminer Alsace Grand Cru Aoc Steinklotz 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Classic in its Alsatian style, this Gewürztraminer is fragrant, fresh, and fruity. It displays aromas of pears and tropical fruit and has a nice, full body that transitions into a long and pleasant finish. Try with spicy Asian cuisine, Chilean seabass, smoked oysters, quiche Lorraine, roasted chicken or turkey.

Alsatian wines have centuries of tradition behind them, and the Helfrich family is descended from a long line of Alsatians. For the past three generations this family has been prominent in the wine and spirits business in northern Alsace. Grand-father, René begun producing classic Alsatian products, such as homemade fruit brandies like Kirshwasser, Schnapps, plum white brandy, and classic Alsatian varietal wines. Inspired by a love of his Alsatian homeland, René’s son Joseph embarked on a new venture in the wine and spirits business. In 1979 he founded Les Grands Chais de France, which has since become one of the most successful wine companies in France. Frederic Helfrich and his sister Anne-Laure represent the newest generation of the family. The Helfrich family introduced thewine renaissance in Alsace at the cutting-edge of technological and oenological innovation. We passionately create our own Alsatian cuvée, vinified in Marlenheim, offering a subtle combination of terroir authenticity and aromatic freshness. Its crisp vibrancy and refreshing finish gives this wine a great gastronomic value. Our predominant winemaking philosophy lets the grape’s and terroir’s inherent character shine through by using the least intervention. The perfect Helfrich style: beautiful aromatics, delicate palate, crisp acidity and clean finish. Helfrich wines are made with passion and the Alsatian spirit.  Our Savoir-Faire is consistently awarded and celebrated in the press. Read less

Smell spiciness and more like a hairspray nose, more fruit and lychee on palate - fruit forward, a little cloying, some viscosity, peach apricot, light tropical fruit with a nice length, youthful

Very rich, floral nose. An explosion of candied fruits in the mouth, very viscous. Nice, off-dry finish. Quite pleasant.

Light golden yellow color. Typical Alsatian style Gewürztraminer. Touch of sweetness along with a some acidity. Aromatic and fruity- aromas of pears, minerals and tropical fruit. Full body. Nice smooth long finish.

nice richness with good floral notes. Nice balance of sweetness with a touch of acidity. Good with cheese or perhaps a nice herb chicken or turkey. left a nice silky taste on the palette. Definitely one to keep on hand and at 12.99 a good buy. Added note I would set out for about 30 minutes or so.

Creamy and aromatic with rich texture and notes of minerals, vanilla, and spice; ripe, long and mellow.
