History Since 1988, Jade Mountain has been a pioneer in the production of age-worthy Rhône-style California wines. The winery was founded with the belief that carefully chosen California vineyard sites planted to Rhône grape varieties can achieve quality on-par with the best from the Rhône region in France. Jade Mountain creates world-class wines by pushing the limits of grape-growing and winemaking for the extract, flavor and richness that comes with the California sun and its individual expressions of Rhône varietals. Terroir Only a few locations in California have the perfect combination of soil and climate for growing world-class Syrah. Paras Vineyard sits at the 1,200-foot elevation on the eastern side of rocky Mount Veeder, overlooking the Napa Valley. The steep, terraced shale slopes are ideal for Syrah because of the cool, yet sun-drenched, climate and low-vigor soils. The vineyard is farmed terrace by terrace, with each row individually cared for. This same care is used at each of the vineyards from which we source grapes for Jade Mountain's wines. This odd, dry, decidedly dull white wine says absolutely nothing at all about Chardonnay, and its hard-to-like elements of stale butter, dried straw and dusty spices stand on their own with no fruity support whatsoever.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.

This mouthwatering Chardonnay showcases the perfect marriage of vineyards for a complex combination of aromas and flavors. The Chardonnay grape has roots in Chablis, the chilly northern region of Burgundy, France. It's no surprise, then, that this vine yields its most balanced, flavorful wines in the coolest wine regions of California, especially those along the Pacific Coast. We selected Chardonnay from vineyards in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties to give our Chardonnay white floral and tropical fruit notes, with a hint of lemon meringue pie. Grapes from Monterey County provide crisp green apple and citrus character and enhance the wine's bright, balanced acidity.
