La Rasina Brunello di Montalcino 2013

Member Review by bmckenna:

I popped, decanted, drank about an hour later, and finished a glass that had been sitting out the next morning (9 hours later). This wine was still going after 9 hours, but at both times it reminded me more of a supertuscan than a Brunello. Lacking the earthiness and leather that I love in a Brunello, but with great smoothness, body, elegance, and a great black cherry/black licorice duo going on. Nose had black cherry, black licorice, herbal qualities, a bit of mint maybe but not much. Palate was strong, black and red cherry and a bit of cassis, licorice and a good amount of alcohol, but in balance. Not sure that I'd buy again if I was looking for a Brunello, though...the 2002 Fattoria Scopone at $10 cheaper is to me more classic leather-and-earth Brunello, if overall a slightly less interesting wine.

Fascinating aromas of dried meat, berries and flowers. Full body, with a wonderful velvety tannin structure and a juicy and sweet fruit aftertaste. Impressive depth of fruit too. Very polished and well-made. Even better than 2006. James Suckling. A Sangiovese Grosso wine from Tuscany in Italy. 2007 La Rasina Brunello di Montalcino 1500ml

Medium garnet-mahogany hue with a brick colored edge. The nose is quite alluring with a mélange of dried cherry, tree bark, Asian five spice and crushed rose petals. Youll want to put your nose in the glass a few times to startle the senses. The pal... Neil Mechanic. A Sangiovese Grosso wine from Tuscany in Italy. 2007 La Rasina Brunello di Montalcino 1500ml

Intense aromas of blueberries, blackberries and fresh mushrooms. Full body, with chewy tannins and a fresh, clean finish. Character goes from minerals to flowers to wet earth. Goes tannic. Need another three to four years of bottle age to open. James Suckling. A Sangiovese Grosso wine from Tuscany in Italy. 2006 La Rasina Brunello di Montalcino 750ml

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a deep, intense wine laced with black cherries, minerals, crushed flowers, and violets. This shows superb polish and elegance all the way through to the textured, expansive finish. La Rasina's Brunello is one of the... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Intense aromas of crushed blackberry and vanilla follow through to a full-bodied palate, with silky tannins and a long, refined finish. Best after 2009. 1,250 cases made. -JS Wine Spectator. A Sangiovese Grosso wine from Tuscany in Italy. 2001 La Rasina Brunello di Montalcino 750ml
