Latour Pauillac Red Blend 1971
Winemaker's Notes:
Parker review: 'A dark opaque garnet color with amber at the edge is followed by a spectacular bouquet of dried herbs, cedar, smoky black fruit, and coffee. Rich, but structured, with moderate tannin, this medium-bodied, elegant yet complex wine possesses a sweet mid-palate in addition to a long, concentrated finish with abundant tannin. This underrated 1971 has been fully mature for over a decade, but it reveals no signs of cracking up or becoming attenuated. Anticipated maturity: now-2012.' 94/100 pts. Editorial Reviews for Latour Pauillac Red Blend
This was reticent on the nose with lots of slow to emerge dried strawberry fruit and rich leafy notes. The combination of sweet maderization notes and drying tannins makes this seem quite advanced. It has nice balance in the mouth but is a bit short and reveals bitter tannins on the finish. There are come nice, complex notes of mushroom, coffee and cigar box on the mid-palate but this has seen better days. 87pts

Add your reviewTasted New Year's eve 2009. Solid garnet color with very little browning. Strucutred and austere with a classic old Bordeaux nose at first. After 20 mins, it opened up showing currant and cassis fruit in good balance with structure and power. A very credible old Bordeaux, but nothing magical or memorable.
