L'Intemporelle Grand Cru Champagne Mailly 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

L'Intemporelle is in essence a deluxe Champagne that has been
priced at a vintage Champagne level. Given its elegant packaging, clear bottle
and very smart box, but more importantly, the exquisite quality of the
Champagne itself; it is no surprise that it has been a great hit at BBR. Good
news in a category where the big brands still hold court, even if some of them
rather bloated and pale now. Made from 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay, the
2005 is precocious, the aromatic emphasis hitherto on stone and red berried
fruit; but the palate is already layered and rich, with a pleasing spicy
backdrop and hints of agrume, gingerbread and peach already evidenced..

Mailly:
The village of Mailly is said to derive its name from the Latin Malliusacum. Grapes have been grown in Mailly for centuries, since before the building of Reims Cathedral in the 13th Century. Mailly wines were much appreciated by the church and nobility and graced all of the finest tables from the Middle Ages onward. Mailly winegrowers have witnessed the landmark events that shaped French History, contributing to the rising fortunes of Champagne in the 17th Century.

This is a medium-bodied blend of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay. It has a fruity nose and a rich palate of warm spices.
