Marietta Cellars Old Vine Red Lot Number Geyserville 1959

External Review by We Speak Wine:

Ripe, juicy fruit and a lush mouth feel are the hallmarks of Old Vine Red, with peppery spice and dusty earth adding an extra level of richness. Moderate but focused tannins ensure this blend will stand up to almost any food. - Winery

Owner and winemaker Chris Bilbro initially founded Marietta Cellars in 1978 in a rented cow barn in the Dry Creek Valley. The wines of Marietta Cellars are a personification of Chris Bilbro, his outlook on life, and general lifestyle. No wine is complete on its own; pleasurable pursuits such as cooking, fishing, hunting, gardening, and entertaining add balance to wine, as they do to life. To this day, no wine gets bottled without Chris’s approval and no vineyard row goes more than a week without Chris riding his ATV through it. Read less

Lot 59 is the latest release of Old Vine Red, our trademark blend that was first released 34 years ago in the early days of Marietta. Lot 59 carries on the tradition of consistency andquality with loads of ripe berries on the nose followed by a briery note reminiscent of blackberry leaf. The color is deep ruby, and the mouthfeel is full, rich and supple. The winegives way to palate coating tannins that provide a textured, soft finish. - Winery

Old Vine Red is a modern version of California's traditional field blends. Our Zinfandel based blend is smooth on the mouth and rich and vibrant on the nose. The current release, Lot 58, has a particularly supple balance of fruit, spice, and texture. Bright berry and floral aromas are followed by a brooding earthy mouthfeel. It is dense without being heavy and structural yet still approachable. Please enjoy this wine in the same manner it was produced: with good friends and family. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **

We have been making Old Vine Red for over 30 years. When we started, there wasnt a spot on wine shelves for a fair priced red blend. Now, there are an overwhelming amount of red blends coming out each year. What makes us different is that we havent changed. Old Vine Red is still a hand made wine that is made by a family who loves what they do. We are fortunate to have both consumers and restaurants who take notice and continue to support us with each and every release.Lot 56 continues the tradition of consistently great wine. The aromas of the Zinfandel based blend are bright and rich with red and dark berry fruits followed by hints of earth and spice. The mouth feel is lush and full. The finish is marked with ample acidity to bring the wine to a balanced finish. - WineryWinemakers: Chris and Scot BilbroGrape Source: Sonoma and Mendocino CountiesColor: Dark Ruby PurpleAging potential: Best within 1-3 years
