Martinelli Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast Blue Slide Ridge 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Advocate Review Rated 95 A real knock-out Pinot Noir in 2005 is the Blue Slide Ridge. This is always the most Richebourg-like of the wines, with a classic floral, herbal, blueberry nose intermixed with crushed rocks, a deep ruby/purple-tinged color, full body, wonderful sweetness, and moderate tannin in the finish.

big strawberries, tons of spice, HOT finish - 15.5% alcohol - made this tough to keep drinking. didn't love, maybe more time in the cellar was needed.

This was the best wine out of 50 Pinot Noirs tasted at Pinot Days 2007, SF. The wine had the best conentration, balance and varietal aroma / flavor characteristics. The flavors are characteristic cherry, smoke and hint of earth with a balanced amount of oak. The oak level is restrained but need to match the level of fruit. 2005 pinot noirs were not showing vwell at Pinot Days.

The 2005 Pinot Noirs also showed well, with the 2005 Pinot Noir Zio Tony Ranch dark ruby with notes of pomegranate, sweet and sour cherries, a hint of spice, and a medium to full-bodied, concentrated palate. This wine (585 cases) should age nicely for up to a decade.

Shows savory aromas of earthy cherry, earthen floor, mushroom and spice. The Pinot Noir fruit is pure, rich and focused on the palate, with a long, detailed finish. Drink now through 2011. 585 cases made. -JL Wine Spectator. A Pinot Noir wine from California in USA. 2005 Martinelli Pinot Noir Zio Tony Ranch 750ml

From the cold Green Valley, the 2005 Pinot Noir Bondi Home Ranch Water Trough Vineyard shows loads of tannin, a greener, cooler character, with plenty of pomegranate, sour cherry, menthol, and forest floor. It tastes more like a Loire Valley wine tha... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Pinot Noir wine from California in USA. 2005 Martinelli Pinot Noir Bondi Home Ranch Water Trough Vineyard 750ml

With Helen Turley as winemaker here, Martinelli's Pinot Noir packs power in the punch. The Bella Vigna is bottled unfined and unfiltered. It is a select blend of plantings from the Russian River Valley. Concentrated, with notes of dried fruit, cola, and licorice.
