Maysara Winery Pinot Noir Willamette Valley Willamette Reserve 2009
Member Review by BeautifulCalamity:
I love Pinot Noir from Oregon and this wine reinforces why I like them so much. Well balanced, light and fruity like many Pinot Noirs with a smooth finish.

The 2009 Pinot Noir Estate Cuvee was aged for 12 months in 30% new French oak. It, too, offers up herbal overtones which seem to be a characteristic of this vineyard. Here it is merely a background note accompanied by Asian spices, incense, and assorted black fruits. In the glass it displays unusual richness and concentration for the vintage as well as a fruit-filled, lengthy finish. It has the stuffing to evolve for 1andndash;2 years and will provide optimum drinking through 2019.

Sumptuous and distinctive for its range of cherry, boysenberry, floral and dark chocolate flavors, dancing suavely through the long, expressive finish. The tannins are submerged, and this has miles to go. Drink now through 2019.

This rather luscious Pinot Noir from McMinnville, Oregon is a great example of the fruit-forward style of American Pinot Noir that so many have grown to love. On the nose, the wine gives plenty of floral berry character. Though heavy on the jammy fruit, the palate is balanced and soft, and supple tannins round out the equation.

The Estate Cuvee sets a classic tone with its firey ruby color. The nose is loaded with crushed blackberries and raspberries, with powerful notes of white pepper, carnation and leather. The fruit was sourced exclussivly from Momtazi Vineyard. The Pommard-clone Pinot was hand selected from the oldest block on our estate and matched with the more vibrant 113 Dijon-clone from a higher elevation.
