The nature of the soils, the relief of the land and levels of exposure are therefore very varied. The soils range from poor quality filtering alluvial deposits (Colmar) to rich, deep clayey sandstone land (RIQUEWIHR), with granite in between (KATZENTHAL). The reliefs range from the flat (COLMAR) to the very steeply sloping (KATZENTHAL). The degrees of exposure are also very varied, ranging from the cooler western part which is suitable for the earlier vine types to the south-facing part which is very warm and sunny. This great variety of terroirs constitutes a distinctiveness and a richness in relation to may of the French vineyards. Read less

Heady savory lemon, toasted hazelnut and fresh yeast aromas are very aromatic here. There’s a bit of cream on the palate which shifts towards lemon and grapefruit notes, more dark toast and smoky brioche, leading straight into a lighter note of peach and apple, finishing with vanilla, cream and some melon. Good complexity.
