Michel Gahier Savagnin Arbois 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

The local grape variety responsible for the great Vin Jaune, the Savagnin for this cuvée is also aged "sous voile" but is bottled three to four years after harvest. The Savagnin produces a severe wine with exceptional power, a wine that takes time to reveal itself.

Slightly savage savagnin. Typicité is the keynote in this clean-textured savagnin. Acidity plays nicely with quince and pear peel notes. A whisper of yeast touches introduces the finish of lightly caramelized yellow plums. Serve with melty, raclette such as in a fondue with beef or garlic bread for dipping. And please don’t overchill!
