Mirassou Chardonnay 2016

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Big lemon, green apple and slightly foxy grape aromas hit the nose followed by touches of wood spice and tea leaves. Fairly round and creamy, at least creamier than past vintages of this. There's a touch of sweetness supporting juicy green apple, green plum and vanilla flavors. The finish shows a hint of woody bitterness, vanilla, and a touch of heat, but that won't show if this is chilled. 84pts Acidity: Medium Perceived Sweetness: Medium Low Oak: Medium Low Spicy Flavors: Medium Savory Flavors: Low Fruity Flavors: Medium Intensity of Flavor: Medium Weight in Mouth: Medium

I smiled when I smelled this, it’s a bit simple but it smells a bit like a tropical vacation, full of lime, pineapple, orange and guava. The entry shows a bit of sweetness, which lingers on the palate but there’s plenty of balancing acidity. The flavors on the palate are a virtual carbon copy of the nose, with the guava being a bit more assertive and being edged with a touch of vanilla cream. The backend and finish reveal a bit of pear fruit as well. This is decidedly uncomplicated and super fresh, perfect for a party. 87pts

Crisp and Clean. This was recommended by a friend and I have to say I really liked it. For the U10 crowd, it can stand on its own or with a meal. I paired it with chicken and a cold pasta salad and it balanced well. On the nose it had some nice floral tones but not to heavy. On the palate it was fresh, refreshing with a slightly tart finish. You should let it breath for about 30 min then you are good to go.

Big bright ripe peachy aroma, with celery seed and caraway on the nose. The mouth is well-balanced between sugar and acids, and has a very smooth draw. It could be a little less sweet for me, but otherwise good.

Pleasantly sweet and soft. Tropical fruit and creamy texture. Easy drinking. Went great with spicy Mexican food.

Displays intense fruit flavors of citrus, tropical fruit, and green apple. These primary flavors are complimented by secondary flavors of pear, melon, citrus, and floral characters. Subtle oak influences contribute a subtle creamy and vanilla character, resulting in a well-balanced, medium-bodied wine.Crisp and delicately structured, as a result of the cooler but sunny growing conditions that provide naturally firm acid levels, this wine is extremely food friendly. It is at its best if enjoyed within a year of release, but should be able to age in the bottle for up to three years.

The stainless steel-fermented and aged 2008 Chardonnay possesses crisp, elegant, lemony, white currant notes as well as fresh, light to medium-bodied flavors, and good fruit, purity, and cleanliness. There is not much more you can ask from a wine in this price range.

A solid Chardonnay, although it finishes a bit sweet. Shows ripe flavors of pineapples, pears and oranges, with a flourish of smoky oak.

This is an everyday sort of Chard, one that offers plenty of fruit, oak and cream without complicating things.
