Moniker Chardonnay Mendocino County 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

The rich and bold, New World-style Moniker Chardonnay was made primarily from grapes grown at La Ribera, our family’s home vineyard along the banks of the Russian River. After gently pressing a combination of whole-cluster and de-stemmed grapes, we fermented and aged the wine three months sur lie in American oak barrels. This added a sturdy, complex framework for our fruit’s signature pear, apple and crisp mineral flavors. We then blended in a lush, barrel-fermented Viognier sourced from nearby Hopland and another subtly spicy lot of Chardonnay aged in French oak for a wine that is equal parts nuanced and approachable.

Vanishing oak and spiced green apple aromas, a touch floral with a note of oat straw. Cool, breezy notes of peach and green apple on the palate, a pleasant acidity and creamy texture finishing with mixed spice, a bit of tart melon and potpourri.
