Painter Bridge California Zinfandel 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

Like many works of art, the 2011 Painter Bridge Zinfandel was designed with an eye towards good composition. The fruit for this wine comes from four Paso Robles Zinfandel blocks and is blended with a wonderfully soft and spicy Petite Sirah, which offers body and palate structure. Each lot of Zinfandel was fermented separately, extracting the nuances of the individual vineyard blocks and drawing out a supple texture. Painter Bridge Zinfandel is awash with the gorgeous red fruit characters of the Zinfandel grape, and has been stylized to accent the delicate fruit without overpowering it with too much oak.

Rusty/brown hued alongside the deep cranberry/black cherry coloration and with slight opaqueness. Aromas of dry, slightly spiced fruits, and berries to be precise....raspberry, dark cherry and current. Muted peppery notes on the palate in terms of spice alongside Earthy damp woodiness, heavy berry presence and rooty licorice notes.....mouthfeel is smooth, medium bodied and super juicy! I like this and what was once a $19 bottle is now found for $10.99....a steal and this will still hold up for a couple more years!

Aside from being a wee bit on the sweet side; quite even tempered. Nice bottle alone or with food that has a little kick.

I absolutely love this wine, it's not available in LCBO but you can get it in certain restaurants including the Keg. Ask for it, try it, you'll love it. Very easy drinking wine and noses beautifully.

Dunkelrot mit violetten Reflexen. Aromen von reifen, roten Beeren, Pflaumen und schwarzem Pfeffer. Vollmundig im Gaumen, eleganter, fruchtbetonter Wein mit einem schönen Abgang.

Tasting Notes:

A Californian wine, Painter Bridge Zinfandel Shiraz shows great color density with youthful purple hues. Its enticing aromas come from a combination of spicy, red fruits: raspberry, boysenberry, red currants, and a hint of black tea spice. The taste delivers a full, yet supple wine with great raspberry Zinfandel fruit presence and richness.
