Pknt Carménère 2010

Member Review by Andrew Hoto:

Aromatically it shows exotic spices accompanied by fruity, juicy blueberries. On the palate, there are round tannins with a finish that lingers of velvety chocolate bliss.

This is a very smooth and unique wine. The color is deep red with a buttery nose. The flavor is nice and round with just a hint of pine. This makes a great sipping wine on a cold winter's night.

In my opinion, this wine is quite mild, regardless of the pepper graphic on the label. It's dark, purple in colour. There's a slight alcohol burn if you don't aerate it for an hour or so. A bit of berry, and a smooth, vaguely vanilla finish.

Received as a gift, so was not sure about it as we had not seen this one before. Let it breathe, then enjoy. Close to a Cabernet, but different. Peppery & dark berry-like. Truely enjoyed it!

2007 and 2008 P.K.N.T. (apparently for 'picante') Carmenere, from the Rapel Valley in Chile. This is an exciting wine, especially for the money ($4.99 in CA). Very dark, almost black with intriguing nose. Quite spicy, flavorful and forward, with long aftertaste. I have had good experience of this 'signature' varietal in Chile. I strongly recommend this red wine.

A very enjoyable wine for basic drinking, it comes off as a cross between pinot noir and light cabernet sauvignon. By no means a "big" wine but it makes up for it with smoothness, good every day taste and has a dash of mint in the finish. Great wine for a chicken dinner, or to just simply drink.
