Plaimont Colombard 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

One of the principal varieties in Armagnac, Colombard is indigenous to Southwest France. California's success with the grape has encouraged French winemakers to re-consider its potential however, and it really comes into its own in this example. Aged on its lees this wine has body and interest but is fresh and fragrant. A perfect summer aperitif. Peach, lime and greengage aromas with notes of mango. Fresh and tangy to taste with impressive intensity, especially for this usually over-cropped variety. Tropical fruit flavours and ripe melon character are balanced by citrus freshness with notes of lime marmalade on the lingering finish. Drink now or over the next year.
