Opal color with a deep earthy bouquet. Legs didn't break for 30 secs. Needed about an hour to breathe. Needs 5 years.

Amazing wine. I tasted it at the release party and found it to be consistent with prior years that got 100 points by Parker. I love the dark cherry flavors and deep, well integrated tannins that coat the mouth. I get blackberries, and a hint of chocolate, and some smoky flavors too. Great wine!

Good full red-ruby. Complex, slightly high-toned aromas of plum and brown sugar. Wonderfully sweet but firmly built; dense, smooth and complex, with the terrific definition of the 2008 vintage at its best. A hint of nutty ripeness is countered by ... Stephen Tanzers IWC. Wine Advocate ReviewRated 97The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Galitzine Vineyard comes from the fifth leaf of this estate vineyard and in this vintage contains 4.5% Merlot. The wine was aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak. Opaque purple-colored, its distinctive aromatics leap from the glass. Toasty oak, scorched earth, a hint of truffle, black cherry, black raspberry, and blackberry liqueur aromas are quite mesmerizing. On the palate, this sizable effort is firm, full-bodied, and structured, demanding 6-8 years of cellaring. It falls a bit short of the flagship Cabernet Sauvignon in terms of complexity but bear in mind that this is still a very young vineyard. It should be hitting its stride by 2015 and remain at that level through 2035.Wine Tasting NotesThe Galitzine Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is packed full of juicy blackberry and blueberry fruit with complex notes of smoked meat, coffee, roasted herbs, vanilla bean and minerals. Its body, purity, focus and delineation are second to none. This wine will drink beautifully for the next 30 years.

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar ReviewSaturated deep ruby. Brooding, backward nose hints at deep black plum, cassis, graphite and nutty, spicy oak. Fat, sweet and superconcentrated, with an almost citric suggestion of acidity and chewy dry extract contributing to the impression of structure. Wonderfully bright for such a ripe wine, and explosively long on the aftertaste. Along with its considerably power, this promises to deliver great class in an almost Medoc-like way.Wine Tasting NotesThe 2005 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot) is loaded with blackberry, blueberry, plum and cassis with nuances of dark chocolate and violets. Classically structured, this complex wine has remarkable elegance and persistence on the long, pure finish. Approachable now, it should reach maturity around 2012 and age for 25 or more years. While we are particularly proud of the last three vintages of our flagship wine, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon easily rivals them as one of the best wines our estate has ever produced.
