Renato Ratti:
Half way up the hill overlooking the main Barolo valley, along the first spurs of the neatly aligned vineyards, lies the Abbey of the Annunziata (Our Lady of the Annunciation), a priceless jewel of the 15th Century. Just as the good friars of centuries past produced wines from the grapes grown along the hollow below their abbey, a position of glory and grandeur, today, faithful to their same timeless wisdom, wines of incomparable quality are produced.

Smooth mix of berries and spices with just a hint of toast; vibrant acidity but well balanced against fruit. Very well made, tasty wine.

Very nice fruit notes, lots of berry, tart cherry and a bit of plum. Well structured tannins make for a pleasant finish. Enjoying this one at L'Eden Supper Club in Tampa with some champaign steamed Atlantic salmon, nice combination!

Aromas of currant, spices, and earth with notes of cocoa. Also had a very slight medicinal note. Medium body with very soft tannins and a great velvety mouthfeel. Finish was light and dusty with hints of chocolate. Delicate and well-balanced, quite good.

This vintage is more powerful, has more body than the year 2004 which we have tasted before. It has a great fruity taste with some spices and a lovely fresh taste. This wine is superb to light Italian dishes. http://winesworld.net/wine-e.aspx?velg=Italy&v2=2259

Rich in body and in color, warm and robust, pleasantly tart when young, a wine suitable to aging. The particular soils of La Morra yield to it a measured acidity along with superb elegance. According to the new rules of the Barolo docg appellation, the use of the “Torriglione” single-vineyard name on other wines besides Barolo will no longer be permitted. Commencing with the 2011 vintage, the name “Torriglione” will not appear on Ratti’s Barbera d’Alba label. - Winery
