Ridge Lytton Springs Zinfandel 2002
Winemaker's Notes:
84% petite sirah, 16% zinfandel Though we made an essence (a dessert wine) in 2001, this is our first petite sirah table wine from the vineyard. The blend's zinfandel comes from the hundred-year-old mixed vines on House Hill and South Flat visible from the south-facing doors in the tasting room.
Member Reviews for Ridge Lytton Springs Zinfandel
Add your reviewNot the darkest Ridge Zin that I've ever seen in the glass. Woody bouquet, with, maybe, some hints of oxidation. Initial palate sensation was alcohol taste--noticeable sweetness that I would normally attribute to alcohol. In the back of the tongue/palate I get some blackberry flavors that I often associate with Zinfandel. Tannins apparent, but controlled. Air seems to help this wine. Also I am looking forward to having this with grilled rosemary and balsamic vinegar marinaded flank steak in a little while. US$24.99 at WIne Club in Santa Ana in 2004.
[Shake Shack] Huge oak, vanilla, alcoholic, red berry. A bad bottle though not corked. Will write it off to a combo of the 375ml bottle and storage.
