Settled in Tuscany, San Polino is a small family-run farm with an history of making wine that goes back to the Xth century. In 1991, Luigi, Fabro and Katia bought the house with 5 hectares of land and 400 olive trees. They had no neighbours as the last inhabitants moved away 20 years ago. All they could hear was the sheep bells and the sounds of wildlife in the surrounding forests.    Between 1991 and 1998, they renovated the estate and planted vineyards in Sangiovese (2,5 hectares in Brunello di Montalcino appelation and 1 hectare in Rosso di Montalcino). The choice of organic viticulture was immediately obvious since all of them wanter their wines to express the rich biodiversity found in the terroir but also to safeguard and respect nature.    In 2001, San Polino produced its first vintage and the wines were quickly welcomed as well recommended as ones of the finest of the Montalcino region. Nowadays, they make between 10,000 and 12,000 bottles depending on vintages and is once again working as a living, thriving farm with as much future as it has history. Read less
