Santa Alicia Carménère Reserva 2008

Member Review by Diego Andrés Díaz:

Very brigth and clear Ruby color. Some smoke in the nose. It tastes like nothing I have before, balanced and with smooth tannins. Delicious!!

With extensive experience in the wine business, he begins planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. After half a century and four generations, the Valdés family has turned these vineyards in the best example of love for the land, and perfection in the quality of its products. Today, identified as "Santa Alicia", as a way of honoring the women that in each generation carry this name, the vineyard continues with its tradition of excellence and prestige, expressed in each bottle are the decades of experience, high technology, and the privileged fruit which results from a marvelous environment. Slightly alcoholic nose with a bit of leather, on the tongue it is soft smoke, a little more leather and I think I detect a touch of black mission fig. A subtle oakiness lingers.

Ends very vinegary, maybe you can cook with it, it was only $7.97 so no pain no gain...

A smooth tasting chilean red, rich flavors and the subtle toasted oak undertone is a nice touch. Aftertaste pleasant and lingers a long time.

 •
This wine finds its foundation in darker fruits. It is thin-bodied and is best paired with lighter dishes, such as salads or a gourmet pizza. It has a balanced taste with subtle tannins.
