Sidney Frank Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley the Sidney 2004

Member Review by barri0s1872:

I got this on discount about a year ago and just opened it this weekend--it's awesome, maybe it just needed more time to sit for the previous reviewer? The nose was redolent with dark fruit, a little mustiness/mushroomy quality alongside carmelized brown sugar, spice, and left you without recoiling from the extremely high alcohol content. At 16.2% i didn't taste any of it but for the dark fruit and little tannins.

Powerful zin. Not for the faint of heart, this zin packs a whollop at 16.2% alcohol! Raspberries and black cherries on the nose and lingering dark chocolate and cherries on the palate. Nice legs, hansome bottle. 2004 is right at it's limit, so look for cellared bottles but expect dry and sugared corks. Push down slightly to release stuck cork and use compressed air corker to remove for best results. Use a big, fat red wine glass or even use a snifter: this wine needs to breathe. Would like to have tried this one younger, but is mellow and smooth after 10 years. Little to no sediment, but use a good aerator with a fine screen, just in case. I found this b1g1 at a discount liquor store for $14.99. I will definitely get again, but time is running out on this vintage. Sidney: please bottle this again!

This Sidney Cellars Dry Creek Zin, 2004, is without a doubt, the worst wine I have every tasted. It is acetic, lifeless, and without boquet. Pour it down the drain or don't waste the money on this crap.
