Sterling Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain Diamond Mountain Ranch Vineyard 1982

Winemaker's Notes:

Swirl, Sniff, Sip A bright purple/red ruby hue, the wine is rich with black currant, plum and cassis notes, and hints of cocoa, suede and cedar. The wine is big and bold, chewy with lingering berry notes and the distinctive chalky Cabernet tannins. The Place The grapes for this vintage of the Sterling Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon came from our estate vineyards in Calistoga, Rutherford and Oakville, as well as from select Napa growers. Sonoma’s Alexander Valley and Mendocino County also contributed a small portion of fruit to the blend. Winemaking Individual lots were fermented separately in temperature controlled stainless steel with selected yeast strains. Malolactic fermentation followed in oak upright tanks, after which the wines were aged for an average of 14 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels. The wine was lightly fined with egg whites prior to bottling. Technically Speaking Appellation: 90% Napa County, 4% Mendocino County, 4% Sonoma County, 2% Other Varietal Profile: 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot Alcohol: 13.5% Total Acidity: 5.9grams/liter
