Sterling Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain Diamond Mountain Ranch Vineyard 2004
Winemaker's Notes:
The Wine News Review Ripe, warm aromas of plum, iodine, graphite and rum cake. Robust, toothsome flavors of blackberry, minerals and black coffee. Gritty finish. Wine Tasting Notes This intense, mountain-grown wine has a dark ruby color and aromas of spicy black cherry, briar, tobacco, toasty oak, bay leaf and blueberry. Concentrated black cherry, blackberry, briar and toasty oak flavors mingle with a subtle mountain minerality. This big, rich wine will mature beautifully over four to seven years. Enjoy it with roast tenderloin, grilled filet mignon and roast rack of lamb.

Our iconic winery is perched high above the town of Calistoga on a mid-valley hill. Its stark architectural beauty, state-of-the-art winemaking facility, and panoramic views of Napa Valley from the rooftop deck have attracted visitors from all 50 states for over 30 years.

Add your reviewThis wine displays a deep ruby color with rich aromas of cherry and blackberry and a hint of coffee. The mouthfilling flavors of ripe black and red fruits, laced with spice, persist through the lengthy finish. Silky, ripe tannins structure the wine and contribute to the plush texture on the palate.
This wine maybe past its prime. Otherwise its a real disappointment coming from what I had thought was a premium napa valley winery. It has good balance but no complexity and a very weak finish.. Where are the tannins ? This wine is overpriced and not a good value for what its being sold for. There are much better california cabs for half the price.
July 30, 2017 review of a 2004 Sterling Vineyards Diamond Mountain Ranch Cab. Sauv. Definitely at its peak, or slightly passed its peak, but not still quite drinkable. Deep black currant and chocolate on the nose and palate. A bit of lavender and rosemary on the tongue. A little smoke and leather in the aftertaste, almost reminiscent of a fine cognac. Would recommend drinking soon if you have a bottle, but it is worthy of savoring alone with some dark chocolate, a good ripe cheese, or a fine cigar.
