The Bolney Estate Foxhole Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

Member Review by duncan 906:

This bottle of wine was part of a lot I bought on the website www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/134184. It is from Sussex in southern England,a part of the world with a history of viticulture going back to the Romans but which has seen something of a revival in recent decades with global warming. My bottle is a red pinot noir from The Bolney Estate and I started it last night with my supper of roast pork. There is a slightly tart cranberry and redcurrant style fruit with some fairly soft tannins but it is not particularly full bodied or structured. It was an OK wine that went well with the pork but not quite on a par with the better Burgundies

The Bolney Estate:
The estate was originally known as Bookers vineyard when Janet and Rodney Pratt bought it and planted 3 acres of vines in 1972.The estate is now run by their daughter Samantha Linter and there are now 39 acres but will expand further as they bought the neighbouring Pookchurch estate in 2019  It is located in the south of England about 14 miles north of the town of Brighton. A range of red, rose, white and sparkling wines are produced
