Three Choirs Vineyard Stone Brook 2017

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine from a shop in London's Belgravia for £10. It is from Gloucestershire in southern England,a part of the world with a history of viticulture going back to the Romans but which has seen something of a revival in recent decades with global warming.Itis a blend of siegerrebe, solaris and phoenix, all hybrid grapes developed in Germany during the 20th century for cool climates. I started my bottle last night with my supper of pork pie salad. It is a dry wine but not bone dry. There is plenty of a peach and citrus style fruit and it is well structured.I thought it had plenty of flavour and a good match for the salad

Three Choirs:
Back in 1973,as an experiment, an Alan McKechie planted some vines on his land on Fairfield Fruit Farm.He sold up in 1984 to a John Oldacre whose family are still in charge. He changed the name to Three Choirs because of his connection to the Three Choirs Choral Festival. There are now over 70 acres under vine and a range of red, rose, white and sparkling wines are produced alongside a range of beers and ciders,There is also a hotel and restaurant
