Turley Juvenile Zinfandel 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

"The debut Zinfandel vintage, 1993, quickly established that Turley Wine Cellars was deadly serious about making blockbuster Zinfandels from some of California's oldest, pre-prohibition, head-pruned vineyards. The wines, aged in small oak casks (both American and French) of which 25% are new each year, are made from grapes that express the essence of Zinfandel. These wines, are hugely successful with wine knowledgeable consumers because of their enormous power, richness, weight, and lofty alcohol levels. The wines are extraordinarily rich and clearly the most concentrated and powerful Zinfandels being made. Larry Turley got his start as one of the owners of Frog's Leap Winery in Rutherford. When the hankering to focus on single vineyard zinfandel in a bone-crushing style took hold of him, he purchased property in Napa Valley just off Highway 29 between Calistoga and St. Helena, acquired contracts for some particularly ''gnarly'' old vineyards, and did just that." -Winery

The winery is a family operation helmed brother and sister duo Larry and Helen Turley, founded in 1993. Their prestigious wines are in constantly high demand, and their private wine club has a two-year waiting list. The wines are produced from several vineyards, with vines dating back to the 1800s. Each terroir lends its own character to the wines, and they are given separate labels according to location each vintage. The vineyards are located in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Howell Mountain and Contra Costa.  Read less
