Veuve Clicquot Vintage Réserve Veuve Clicquot 1990

External Review by Prestige Wine & Spirits:

Tightly-packed with notes of citrus oil, orange rind, white peach, honeysuckle, and brioche, the medium to full-bodied 1996 La Grande Dame Brut should age well for 15-20 years. Crisp, fresh, and backward, it is another brilliant example from the exquisite 1996 vintage.

Founded in 1772, Veuve Clicquot is among the most prestigious Champagne Houses. Its extensive holdings, many originally purchased by Madame Clicquot, stretch throughout the top-rated areas of the Champagne region and are exceptional in size and quality. As in madame Clicquot's day, bottles age in the House's vast, vaulted cellars in Reims, portions of which were constructed some 2,000 years ago by the Romans. The remarkable Madame Clicquot (1777-1866) is considered one of the first business-women of the modern era. Widowed in 1805 at the age of 27, Madame Veuve Clicquot (born Ponsardin) defied every convention of the day to take the helm of her late husband's small Champagne House. She personally supervised cellar activities and introduced innovative production techniques still used today. Champagne Veuve Clicquot is known internationally for its classically styled and full-bodied Champagne. Read less

A class act. This rosé puts delicacy, flavor, complexity and balance together for a great taste experience. It is dry, frim in texture and full of subtle cherry and spice flavors that linger on the finish. Best now through 2002.

Striking in flavor and profile. A graceful, well-toned rosé, full of berry, autumn leaves and spice notes enmeshed in a rich texture, all supported by lively acidity. Stylish and beginning to mellow, with a long aftertaste of berry confit. Drink now through 2006.

Pale orange. Powerfully aromatic, spicy nose of raspberry, earth, pancetta and spices; quite Burgundian. Full-bodied, powerful and concentrated, with strong, ripe red berry flavors. Shows lovely sweetness of fruit in the middle but finishes adamantly dry. Strong acidity gives this young wine terrific grip and thrust.
