This is very complex chardonnay starts out mild and inviting seducing you into believing that it is harmless and tame, but after a few minutes you start to realize that this is much more than a normal chardonnay. Karl Wente has taken special care to make sure this is truly the Nth Degree!

In general, I'm not a big fan of Chardonnay but I'm a fan of Wente's Nth Degree Chardonnay. I was first introduced to this wine while wine tasting at the Wente Tasting Room and was cautioned that I would be unable to purchase this wine from them without first joining their Wine Club. Not being partial to Chardonnays and having no intention on joining their Wine Club I proceeded with an open mind. I loved their Nth Degree Chardonnay so much that I not only joined the Wente Wine Club but bought a bottle to take home and share with my wife. Luckily Wente regularly includes this wine in their Wine Club shipments so we are able to enjoy this wine on a regular basis without too much effort on our part.

Tasting Notes:

The 2003 Chardonnay is a great example of Livermore Valley terroir. The aromas of citrus and vanilla melt away into the tropical fruit fl avors as a hint of oak dances around the palette.

Batonnage, the art of stirring of the barrels, was performed monthly. The stainless steel portion was aged on lees for 10 months.
