Zenato Cormi Corvina Merlot 2008

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

The 2008 Merlot Corvina Cormi is gorgeous in this vintage. Hints of crushed flowers and white pepper add complexity as this vibrant, focused wine shows off its class. I especially like the energy here. This is a decidedly extroverted style that works beautifully. Anticipated maturity: 2013–2023.

If you ask a Frenchman where Merlot comes from, he'll naturally answer “Bordeaux,” but ask an Italian and he’ll reply “Veneto.” Not often regarded as a classic Italian grape, Merlot flourishes in this northern region, and the Zenato Cormi perfectly combines its velvety black fruit with the vibrant red fruit notes of Corvina. Totally stunning — I thought it was twice the price!

This plummy red features juicy acidity and flavors of damson plum, currant, blackberry and smoke. Well-integrated and easy-drinking, with a fresh, brambly fruit finish. Drink now.
