Prospecting the New World's coolest latitudes, Brian Croser and Rollin Soles staked a claim in Oregon's Willamette Valley, a place ideal for late season ripened Pinot Noir and Chardonnay fruit. Since 1987, Argyle Winery has produced world-class methode champenoise Sparkling wine, barrel fermented Chardonnay and 'silky' textured Pinot Noir from low yielding vines on winery farmed hillside slopes. Argyle was named "OREGON'S PREMIER WINERY" by Wine Spectator in 2000. Argyle farms three vineyards: Knudsen Vineyard, Stoller Vineyard and Lone Star Vineyard. The 120 acre Knudsen Vineyard was first planted between 1972 & 1974. The high elevation blocks of this landmark Dundee Hills site are key components in Argyle's sparkling wines. Knudsen provides Argyle a mix of old vine blocks and new high density blocks planted with "Old World" Dijon clones. Just south of Knudsen Vineyard in the Dundee Hills sits Stoller Vineyard. First planted in 1995, Stoller, like Knudsen Read more »

  • Argyle Vintage Brut Willamette Valley 2014

The Argyle Vintage Brut shows Dandelion Wine yellow in the glass and brioche toast on the nose... tres champagnois, pour ainsi dire. The entry is smooth, toasty and reminiscent of better, aged Champagne. A wonderful bubbly with a pedigree above its price. 91. Read More

  • Argyle Pinot Noir Reserve Willamette Valley 2015

Just tried the 2015 Argyle Reserve PN, and for lovers of Nuits-Saint-Georges, this is the wine for you... at 1/3 the price. A beautiful, nuanced vanilla-strawberry nose invites you to raise your glass, and of course you do: a soft, silky, slightly bracing entry with fresh, cultivated strawberry caresses the palate. The finesse is quite extraordi... Read More

  • Argyle Willamette Valley Pinot Noir Grower Series 2013

This is a light, patio-style PN from Argyle - a reputed Dundee OR producer. Not being a reserve wine, it does not have the bold delivery and extraction of other offerings, but has a wonderful wild strawberry nose and a creamy, smooth effect on the palate - like a mildly tannic strawberry water infusion. Finish is medium to short but somehow sa... Read More

  • Argyle Nuthouse Chardonnay 2012

Not bad but not great Willamette chardonnay. A bit overly oaked for my taste but there's some nice creamy lemon and a bit of acidity behind the wood. Guessing the Rombaur lovers would find this as a great alternative. Read More

  • I have found Argyle wines to be consistently wonderful. While a little above the average dinner at home price point, they are definitely worth it. Due to this, they are my "go to" wines for gifts and dinner parties. I have spent several afternoons in the Tasting Room while awaiting my red eye flight back to the east coast. YUM.
