Cinzano is a vermouth that was created in Turin, Italy in 1757 by brothers Giovanni and Carlo Cinzano. The blend consisted of 35 local herbs and spices added to red wine, which acted both a preservative and also flavor enhancer. The white version with a different combination of botanicals was created soon after. The brand has long been associated with its ornate, colorful, graphic labels and advertising. The posters in particular have been known to beautifully reflect current events by showcasing scenes that are both glamorous and timely. The business stayed in the Cinzano family till 1985. It is now owned by Diageo.
Cinzano is available in Rosso, Blanco, Extra Dry and Rosé.

  • Col d'Orcia Brunello di Montalcino 2009

First out on the nose is warm, spiced, dark cherry with a bit of tangerine rind, clay earth, and pretty floral notes. The palate has an elegant weight, and is a bit subdued, showing subtle flavors of spiced red cherry, dried herbs, tobacco, and mineral Earth. Perhaps a bit shut down at this time, and likely to open and improve with time. 3 years... Read More
